In plain words
Flux Kontext Pro makes pictures from a description and, more usefully, changes photos you upload. You say what to change, “make it a sunny day”, “remove the car”, and it works from your picture.
In our test it was the quickest of all, about 5 seconds a picture. The results were friendly and easy on the eye: a smiling grandmother in soft sun, a cat curled up by the window, a pale watercolor of Tuscany.
It was less exact with our words. It left a comma out of the birthday card, painted a real whale instead of a glass one, and put the Lisbon tram on a cliff edge. For quick ideas and simple photo edits that matters little; for anything you print, check the details.
How to get the most out of it
- Upload a photo and ask for one change. That is where it works best.
- Say what must stay. “Keep the people exactly as they are.”
- Spell out tricky materials. “Made entirely of transparent glass, you can see through it.”
- Check the words. If there is text in the picture, read it letter by letter.
How it compares with its siblings
Flux Pro 1.1 Ultra and Flux 2 Pro are the other Flux models here. Both only make new pictures and can’t edit yours, so Kontext Pro is the Flux to pick for photo edits.
When to pick another model
For cards where every letter counts, GPT Image 2.5 Flare was more reliable. For a careful photo edit, try GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst or our guide to restoring old photos.
