In plain words
Flux 3 is a video model from Black Forest Labs, the company behind the Flux image models. It works three ways: from a description, from a photo, or from a first and a last picture, where it fills in the movement between the two.
Clips go from 5 to 20 seconds, come with sound, and reach Full HD.
How to get the most out of it
- Describe the movement, step by step. “The baker slides the tray out, then the door opens” gives the clip an order.
- Say what the camera does. “Still camera”, “slow push-in”, “follows from the side”.
- For two pictures, keep the same framing. Same spot, same angle, only the change you want.
- Test short, then go long. A 5 second try tells you a lot before you ask for 20.
How it compares with the rest of the family
Black Forest Labs also makes image models: Flux 2 Pro, Flux Kontext Pro, which edits pictures, and Flux Pro 1.1 Ultra. Any of them can make the starting picture for a Flux 3 clip. Flux 3 is the only one that makes video.
When to pick another model
For 4K, try Veo 3.1 or Kling V3.0. For clips up to 30 seconds, look at Wan V3.0. MiniMax H3 is another option with sound, at 2K.
