In plain words
Claude Sonnet 5 is a chat assistant from Anthropic. It’s the everyday member of the Claude family: quick to answer, and with the same natural, friendly way of writing that people like about Claude.
It thinks before it answers on harder questions, reads photos and PDFs, and can search the web. For most of what people do day to day, that’s everything they need.
How to get the most out of it
- Start with the goal. “I need to cancel my gym membership without a fight” tells it exactly what to aim for.
- Paste the real text. The email you got, the form you don’t understand, the recipe you want to change.
- Say the length and tone. “Two short paragraphs, friendly but firm.”
- Keep the conversation going. Ask follow-up questions in the same chat. It remembers what you said earlier in that chat.
- Ask it to explain like you’re new to the topic. It won’t talk down to you, and you’ll get fewer surprises.
If an answer doesn’t feel right, say so. “That’s too formal” or “I don’t think that’s correct, check again” usually gets you a better second try.
