Show it a photo. Ask what you want to know.

A plant in the garden you can't name, the small print on a label, a chart from a report, an old family photo. Upload the image and ask your question in plain words.

See what it does

What you give it, and what you get back.

What you put in

A photo of a plant with purple flowers growing by the fence, and the question: what is this, and is it safe with a dog around?

What you get back

Its best guess at what the plant is, what it looks for in the photo to say so, and general notes on whether it's known to be harmful to pets, with a reminder to check with a vet or a garden center.

What Analyze Image does

Analyze Image lets you show the AI a picture and talk about it. It opens a chat ready for your image, with the message “Describe this image” already filled in. Send it as it is for a description, or change it to your own question.

It understands photos, not just text. It can read words in the picture, follow the shape of a chart, and notice details like the color of a leaf or the markings on a part.

Because it’s a chat, you can keep going: “What else could it be?”, “Where would it grow best?”, “Now write it as a shopping list.”

How to get good answers

Give it a clear picture. Good light, in focus, and the thing you’re asking about in the middle.

Say what you want to know. A name, the text, what a chart means, what to do next.

Give context. “This is in my garden in Ohio” or “This came off my washing machine” helps it narrow things down.

Ask how sure it is. It can tell you what it’s basing the answer on, and what would help it be more certain.

What it won’t do

  • It can get things wrong, especially with look-alike plants, animals or parts. Double-check anything that matters.
  • It isn’t a safety check. Don’t rely on it to decide whether something is safe to eat, touch or take.
  • It can’t see what’s outside the photo, or read text that’s blurry or cut off.
  • It won’t edit or restore your photo. For that, see the old photo restoration guide and the image models.

Frequently asked questions

What kinds of images can I upload?

Everyday photos, screenshots, scans and pictures of documents or charts.

Is there a size limit?

Yes. Each image can be up to 10 MB. If a photo is larger, the app tells you so you can pick a smaller one.

Can I trust what it says a plant or a mushroom is?

Treat it as a good guess, never as a safety check. Never eat a wild plant or mushroom, or give anything to a pet, based on an AI answer.

Can it read handwriting?

Often, if the writing is clear and the photo is sharp. Check names and numbers against the original.

Can I ask in my own language?

Yes. Ask in the language you prefer and it answers in that language.
