How to plan a trip with AI
Think of the AI as a well-traveled friend who never gets tired of your questions. The more you tell it about you, the better the plan.
- Start with the basics. Where, how many days, which month, and who’s coming. A trip with teenagers looks very different from a trip with your partner.
- Say what you enjoy and what you don’t. “We love long lunches and hate early starts” changes the whole plan.
- Ask for a first plan. Use the “day-by-day plan” message above. Read it the way you’d read a friend’s suggestion.
- Fix it by talking. Reply with what you’d change. You don’t need to start over. “Day three is too busy” is enough.
- Add the practical bits. Once the plan feels right, ask for the packing list, what to know before you land and where to eat near your hotel.
- Check the important things. Before you rely on an opening time, a ticket rule or a price, look it up on the official website.
Tips for a better result
Give it your hotel’s area. Plans are much better when the AI knows where you start each morning.
Mention how you like to move. On foot, public transport, taxis or a rented car. It changes which places make sense on the same day.
Ask for a realistic pace. AI plans can be too full. If you like free time, say “leave two hours free every afternoon”.
Keep it all in one chat. Everything stays together, and the AI remembers what you already decided.
What AI won’t do for you
It can’t book flights or hotels for you, and it doesn’t know about a strike or a closed museum unless it can search the web. Some chat models in chatmodel can look things up online, which helps for recent information, but a quick check on the official site is still a good habit.
Not sure which model to pick? Start with the default, or read which model should I use. Going somewhere with a different language? The Translate tool helps with menus and signs.
