In plain words
Minimax M2.5 is a chat assistant from MiniMax. It’s the middle version of the M2 line: newer than M2.1, older than M2.7.
It replies straight away, without a thinking step, and it can read photos and PDFs. That makes it useful for small, practical jobs: notes, forms, recipes and how-to questions.
How to get the most out of it
- Paste everything at once. The full notes or the whole form, so nothing is left out.
- Ask it to flag doubts. “Mark any word you can’t read” is useful with handwriting.
- Say what you’ll do with the answer. “I’ll print it” or “I’ll send it by text” changes the format.
- Check dates and amounts against the original.
How it compares with the rest of the family
Minimax M2.1 is the earlier M2 version and Minimax M2.7 is the next one. Minimax M3 is the next generation and the only Minimax chat model that thinks before it answers.
When to pick another model
For tricky decisions, try Minimax M3. For long, careful writing, Claude Sonnet 5 is a common choice. To ask questions about a long PDF, the PDF chat tool is a quick start.
